Make It Merry

Jingle All the Way....

Today we had our company wide Christmas party at work. I like to feel festive for parties. So, I wore this vintage dress that I got on trade from Kristie at the art show. She scored the metal sunburst headpiece and a cloth flower locket. I scored the sterling ring and this awesome little number. I paired it up with black accessories, gold vintage jewelry and my little Christmas bow brooch. The glasses were the final touch and they just seemed necessary.
We're having family Christmas tonight for my Dad's side. Always fun!
I hope everyone is having a wonderful week. Happy Wednesday friends!
Oh, and a very Happy Anniversary to my amazing parents.. Today marks 32 years together!

LOVEd jewelry

Pamela Love is a huge inspiration to me. She has a good eye for simple yet freakin' awesome pieces of jewelry. I posted pictures of her done for The Selby last month. Check that out to see how awesome she is not only w/ her jewelry making skills but in real life. Pamela reminds me a lot of myself in our personal styles and love for all things natural.
Silver Breast Plate Necklace
Double Cage Ring
Moon Cuffs
Quartz Tribal Necklace

You can find any of these four pieces plus many more at Bonadrag.com
You will also find other great jewelry designers as well as clothing and shoes. As a jewelry maker myself, I'm always looking for inspiration and ideas. Pamela Love is very much an inspiration in my life both w/ jewelry and style.

I hope everyone is having a lovely Monday afternoon.

Too Gypsies - Art - Friends

Last Saturday I attended and vended an art show held by a friend of mine in Jackson's Gap, AL. I sold jewelry from my handmade/vintage store, Too Gypsies. I have talked about Too Gypsies on my blog before. One of my childhood best friends, Jay, and I make beautiful handmade jewelry together and on our own. It was great to do an art show for the first time since we started this journey.
One of my best friends, Kristie Jo, after the art show. Our friend, Whitney, who organized the gathering, had this dead Christmas tree. Kristie a.k.a. KJo used it to hang her stained glass.

My display table at the art show.

Cloth flower and feather hair pins
semi-precious stone and silver earrings
Deco boxes, feather hair clips and head bands
K Jo has a store called "A Cup of Jo." She sales vintage clothing along w/ vintage and handmade jewelry. She sells in a store in Tuscaloosa, AL and also uses Etsy. If you are ever in the Tuscaloosa area, check her stuff out at Grace Aberden boutique.
The rack of vintage clothes K Jo brought for the show.
How rad is that Mickey and Minnie sweater in the front?!!!
Some of Kristie's stained glass. I love these honeycomb pieces. She's also done some more abstract pieces that are amazing!
Whitney's table
She mixed up some really great bath salts. All of the concoctions were created by Whitney. This one "Simple Is..." was my favorite. It had dried lavendar mixed in. All of the salts are sold in either vintage vases or mason jars. Nice touch, huh?
Journals Whitney created with vintage books and paper.
I loved these match boxes! One of the other artists who was there, Lila, had these. The naked Santa was my favorite!
Kristie Jo in front of her display area :)
In the bottom left, you can see the other stained glass pieces in the vintage suitcase.
One of my favorite things about art shows is that artists make trades! Everyone there has a different creation that other artist's appreciate and want. Kristie and I made a great trade. She is wearing one of the pieces she got from me.... the metal sunburst headpiece. It looks so great on her w/ her adorably short haircut! I scored a great ring and vintage dress from her!
It was great to be there w/ these two ladies. I met both of them while in college at Alabama. They are both very talented artists and great girls.
To view or purchase anything from Too Gypsies check out our page on facebook. You can also check out our twitter and etsy page by typing in Too Gypsies. We are hoping to expand all of our efforts soon and have a webpage where you can view and purchase from many different artists including the three of us pictured above.
Thanks for reading my friends! I hope everyone is enjoying this beautiful Sunday afternoon.

Holiday Party Duds

"Repeat the Sounding Joy, Repeat the Sounding Joy, Repeat, Repeat the Sounding Joy"
I've loved this dress since the moment I saw it in the November catalog. It would be so much fun to wear to a Christmas party. I love the excess fabric in the bottom and pretty embellishment at the top. Perfect for Christmas!
Free People- Sparkling Cross Body Bag
This is so perfect for a holiday party to store lipgloss, mirror, phone, etc...

Free People- Velvet Peeptoes
These are just AWESOME! I love crushed velvet... one of my favorite fabrics and the sparkles on the platform and heel are just fantastic!

Rachel Rachel Roy- cold shoulder dress
Such a simple yet very pretty dress for cocktail parties at Christmas. Would look great with some bright red or crystal embellished shoes!

Rachel Rachel Roy- Sparkle Motion Dress (on sale)
You can't really go wrong with sequins during the holiday season. They are such a fun way to be festive!
When I saw this crop top I fell in love with it. It is so perfect for many occasions, especially holiday parties. For a Christmas party, I'd style it up w/ trousers like the ones below or a full lace skirt. But, then I'd probably bust it out again for New Years Eve w/ a velvet or leather mini skirts and funky tights! Great top!

These are a little different from anything you'd normally find me in. But, I think they are really pretty for a holiday get together. Worn with a deep red lace or velvet corset top or the embellished crop top shown above, they would look awesome!

How adorable is this dress? I want it now! I love the adorable sparkley peter pan collar. I'd love to wear this with some platform maryjanes and a pretty embellished clutch.
I love Christmas time. The decorations, great smells, family gatherings, great food.... what's not to love?? I really love the gatherings though. Getting together with friends and family to enjoy great company is definitely a big perk. I've been invited to a few Christmas parties this year. Today, I started thinking of what I want to wear. I love the idea of velvet, lace, sequins, silk, embellishment and sparkles on my holiday party attire!!! I took the time to find a few great pieces that would work wonderfully for a Christmas or New Years party! Hope you enjoy!
What is your idea of the perfect holiday party outfit???

I hope everyone is having an excellent Wednesday!
Thanks for reading!
