Sunny Daze

"Best to count your blessings child, the sun's not too hot today. Like to get to church before, oh, before this old jacket fades. Take us right to the shade...."
Widespread Panic~ Papa Johnny Road

The weather in Alabama today is absolutely magical!! Sunny 80 degrees.. The burn of the leather against my ass as I got in the car made me smile! By summer, I'll be cussing that sting. But, today... I loved it! This weekend is supposed to be beautiful too! I'm going to try and get a tan and enjoy time w/ my fam on Sunday for Easter! My sweet mom still gets us a basket! :)

These pics were taken on Tuesday but I never got around to posting them. This shirt is my absolute favorite spring/summer shirt. It's perfectly flowy and colorful and feminine!! I can't walk out of the house w/o compliments about it, which I don't mind :) Anna Sui did this one for Anthropologie and I lucked up and got if for a great price on sale! Ahhh.... Beauty of patience and thriftiness... Yes, I'm bragging a bit.

I hope everyone has a lovely weekend!! If it's pretty where you are get outside! Do something fun and creative!! I've got my bathing suit and frisbee out and ready to go!

Also... thank you to all the great people who have sent sweet vibes, prayers and messages my way this week for my mom. It means so much to me!! She's doing very well still!! I'm proud of her.. She's been a trooper this year!

Thanks to all who read! Have a peaceful and fun weekend everyone!!

lots of love,

Save the Ta Tas :)

It has been a REALLY messy day here in Bama. Raining cats and dogs! Yuck! I only like rain when I can be laying down, watching a movie w/ comfort food under a tin roof... okay, well, it doesn't have to be a tin roof.. But, I do need comfy clothes and good food to tolerate rain.

April has been smashing this week.. Everyday I've simply had to photograph her. Today's skirt is just absolutely adorable! Check out all the fun pictures on it.. Theres the Statue of Liberty, Empire State building, taxis, Upper East Side ladies walking their dogs, the Brooklyn Bridge, I mean jeez... This skirt is insane. She got it at a consignment shop too! I'm going to have to start going w/ her b/c she gets the COOLEST stuff!
She's adorable, huh?

I "borrowed" this shirt/cardi from my mom. I love that I can shop in her closet these days. It's so funny how things have transitioned w/ her style. When I was in high school I begged her to stop wearing mom jeans and pleated trousers and bright colored leather pumps.. Now... I'd KILL to have all those things back. The things I was SO embarrassed by back then are things I go looking in thrift stores for now. Crazy, huh? I think so. Big C is quite adorable these days. She's graduated to bootleg and even a pair of skinny leg jeans, cute tanks and dresses and fun blazers and cardigans. I actually shop in her closet quite often. So, Thanks Mom! :)

Mom's cardi; H&M skirt; Express tights; Charlotte Russe clogs; vintage necklace
On a bit of a more serious note, but no alarm please! Mom (Big C) is having surgery on Monday. Those of you who know our family know that she had a battle w/ breast cancer this past summer. She won!!! Oh yea!! Things are great.. Cancer is gone. But, boobies left too. :( She's had one breast enhancement surgery. But they need a little more work. My opinion is... she had to loose them so she should get some damn good ones in return!!! Don't you think?
So, Monday... send some good vibes our way! I will be at the hospital with her. This ain't our first rodeo. So, I'm sure all will go well. But, it always makes the wait and process easier when you know people are thinking about us and lifting her up.
I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend in case I don't post again before then. Thank you so much to all who read this. You are all beautiful!

"Well i'm convinced the whole day long that all I learn is always wrong..."

"I was taught a month ago to bide my time and take it slow. But then I learned just yesterday to rush and never waste the day..." ~ Phish

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that today was the most beautiful day of 2010 in Alabama so far.. The sun was shining, the flowers were blooming and everyone was smiling!! How could we not all be smiling? It was near perfect weather!! I spent as much of my day outside as possible. I ate a wonderful lunch w/ my mom and brother. We enjoyed some great conversation outside, sitting at a table on the sidewalk. It was awesome!!!
I got sweet baby bro to take a photo with me. April snuck her fingertip in there. My pants and his hoodie are pretty much the same color. But, they don't translate that way on camera. He looked really cool today.. as usual! The pants I'm wearing have become my FAVORITE! They are 100% silk and slouchy and perfect! I found them in the sale room at Anthropologie one day.. They were marked down from like $118 to $24.. I'm probably a little off but the point is they were a steal! Last time I wore them w/ a flowy shirt and seriously felt like I was wearing PJs.

I took pictures of April again today. She was wearing this fantastic vintage dress she got at a secondhand store called Collage that is here in town. She brought it back to work one day along w/ a beautiful green silk skirt. I'd actually tried on the skirt on my last trip but opted not to get it. I can't wait to see how she styles it. Back to the dress though, how awesome is this thing? The zipper details are bada$$!! She look fabulous in it!
We had to get one together today.. I'm feeling a little boyish in this photo.. Like I'm her bodyguard or something.. Although.. what the hell would I ever "guard" very well?? Ha!

I'm kinda bummed b/c I was supposed to spend the night w/ Sheri Ashley tonight. I walked out w/o my bag this morning :( BOO!!! She understands though.. I'm forgetful and ALWAYS in a hurry in the a.m. I love you Sheri Ash!! a.k.a. my tourpal a.k.a. bestie! I miss you and we are DEFINITELY reuniting next week!
Well, I guess I'll quit rambling now. I hope everyone is having a fantastic day wherever you are!
Thank you very much for reading!

It's been a pretty good day for me. Sunny outside w/ cool but nice temperature. My friend Scott came through in the clutch!! Much appreciate Scott!! You rock! Another good friend is coming home from Germany this weekend... Rebecca a.k.a. Re a.k.a. Becca

The Dreaming Tree

"Standing here the old man said to me long before these crowded streets here stood my dreaming tree..." The Dreaming Tree ~ Dave Matthews Band

What I wore: Cardigan- Anthropologie; tunic, tank and skinnies- Urban Outfitters; wedges- Target; Jewelry- handmade and vintage;

It was a beautiful day today.. The sun was shining and the sky was blue! It truly felt like spring time. I went to SOHO square w/ my friend Joel to take these pictures. He has really brushed up on his photography skills since I started this blog. :)

It's been a long but productive day for me at work today. As I've said before in a post, I am the leader of our company's green team. We have been working very hard for several months now to plan an Earth Day celebration. We met today as a team to finalize all of our plans. I'm so excited b/c we've got some great things lined up. Next, I have to get the approval of our boss. I've met w/ her once and she was really optimistic and supportive of everything.. However, she is not the final word. She has to run it by her boss.. THE BIG BOSS first. But, I have faith that he will approve and it will be an excellent Earth Day celebration.

It feels really good to work hard for a good cause and see it pay off. I'm so proud of our green team and the things we've accomplished in the short year we've been together. We've created a VERY successful recycling program in our office. That has sparked other companies in our building to create them. People around our office seem to geniuenly care more about keeping our planet healthy. It's an inspiring thing... Earth Day is one month from Monday. It's on April 22nd! What will you do to celebrate Earth Day? It doesn't have to be anything big... You can make a pledge to be more eco-friendly, plant a tree, make a run to your local recycling center, pick up the trash on your most travelled road.. The list goes on. So, take the time, even if it's not on Earth Day to pay Mother Earth back for all her hospitality! :)

I hope everyone finishes out the work or school week with ease! Have a wonderful weekend and thank you so much for taking time to read my blog!

Cheers to Green Beers

"Listen to the river sing sweet songs to rock my soul."
~Grateful Dead

Happy St. Patrick's Day everyone!! Go have some green beer tonight! I am!! I'm meeting one of my wonderful girlfriends from college a little later. Really, I'll just be having beer in a green bottle... Yeungling.. my favorite! My brother and I have always said it would have been cool to been born w/ the last name O'Malley and have opened an Irish pub. We do have it in our blood. Actually, our real last name would probably work pretty well for a pub name. But, not really our style. I can't handle demanding drunk people!
I love the skirt I wore today. The coolest part is that my grandmother got it for me. I went through a pretty serious "hippie/bohemian" phase in college. My mother would say I'm permanently in that phase. My grandmother or as I call her, Mawmaw, bought it as a birthday gift a few years back. I really like it. All the different colors are so pretty! I've enjoyed rocking it today. So, thanks Mawmaw!! I love you!
I hope everyone is having a lovely day!! Thanks for reading!

Downtown Daisies

"Down on the corner, out in the street, Willy and the Poor Boys are playin, bring a nickel, tap your feet." ~Creedance Clearwater Revival

Jere and I did a quick little photo shoot downtown today. I don't want to write much b/c I want the focus to be on the photos. They aren't epic or anything. But, I do think they are good. It was really fun running downtown and snapping some shots together. Stay tuned for many more brother/sister photo shoots. I think Jere enjoyed it as much as I did. I love my brother so much!! He is the best! We were right off of Morris Avenue in Birmingham, AL in these photos.
Thanks for reading!!!
